Walking Tour Frankfurt-Bornheim: The entire world in one village (Premiere 24.03.2018)
Nowhere else in Frankfurt is the culinary diversity and the number of international restaurants in one small space as sizeable as it is in Bornheim: Czech, Israeli, Egyptian, or Korean - in Bornheim you’ll find it all! The traditional and centuries-long established restaurants are typically located right next to the more alternative spaces in town, thus creating a wonderful juxtaposition between trendy multicultural charm and picturesque rural nirvana; this is just one of the many reasons that makes Bornheim worth visiting!

Stroll along the narrow streets of Old Bornheim, past traditional cider houses, cozy cafés, and traditional family businesses. Immerse yourself in the more than 2,000 years of history of the quirky village where the Romans felt right at home as your tour guide entertains you with exciting stories, funny anecdotes, and lots of information about the everyday life of the Bornheimers. On Saturdays, you can also expect to experience the electric buzz of the Bornheim Wochenmarket, Frankfurt's most iconic food market, with all its colors and smells. You will furthermore learn how Bornheim came to be known as the "Funny Village," why the church tower was almost overturned in the 70’s, and how a native Turk wants to bring people together with free culture.

For those who want to move on after the tour - no problem! The Bornheim bar district is known for its extensive range of trendy bars and quaint pubs. Bornheim truly has it all: beautiful architecture, cosmopolitan residents, extraordinary culinary highlights, and a vibrant nightlife that can stand up to any other major city - bring on the funny village!

You will find an exciting range of culinary stations on your tour, such as:

  • a restaurant with innovative Bohemian-Moravian cuisine
  • an Egyptian café, playground and shoe store
  • Frankfurt's most traditional wine cellar & vineyard
  • ein sushi restaurant with a traditionall sushi chef
  • a charming Parisian-styled café & bistro

For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic etc). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.
