Walking Tour Würzburg-Sandervorstadt: Old quarter with fresh student charm (premiere on 19.05.2018)
Discover with us a well-known quarter completely new and you will be surprised, what there is to discover everything in Sandervorstadt. Learn why this neighborhood was rightly called "suburban sand" in earlier times and later became known as "Peter Quarter". Stroll with us through seemingly forgotten streets, like the Rosengasse or Korngasse, in which the time has stopped and with us at the next corner dive back into the pulsating student life of the Sanderstrasse.

Old churches alternate with new trendy bars, university buildings with the hidden garden of the Carmelite Monastery and the remains of the medieval city wall accompany us on our way through this contradictory district. Long extinct jobs like the barber-surgeon have left their mark and our tour guides bring this story back to life.

Discover the consequences of the war and how it has shaped the image of the city to this day. See with your own eyes how students always give the district its own flair and help to bring new life to it. And while you listen to the many anecdotes of the city's history, you feast with samples across the Franconian kitchen, which are lovingly prepared in a traditional way as well as creatively with a modern twist.

You will find an exciting range of culinary stations on your tour, such as:

  • a traditional Franconian wine bar with its own butcher shop
  • a unique restaurant specializing in baked goods
  • a vegetarian slow food store
  • an alternative cozy cafe with a preference for rice pudding
  • a long-established bakery – all baked with love

For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic etc). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.
