Walking Tour Düsseldorf Pempelfort: From the former aristocratic vacation hotspot to today’s trendiest district
Join us on a culinary excursion and live life like the locals in the hip and beloved Pempelfort with all its multifaceted components. In addition to the large variety of individual and unique shops, you’ll also discover the calm and quiet places off the bustling Nordstraße, one of the main shopping streets of the district.

Pempelfort once housed the flower and market gardens of the German nobility, specifically the dukes, just outside the former city walls. Today it is one of the most densely populated parts of Düsseldorf, which its residents believe is largely due in part to its coveted location on the Rhine River. As a popular and highly sought-after residential area, the neighborhood has something for everyone: domestic and international cuisine, lovingly adorned shops, and plenty of studios and museums.

Learn more about the history and legends of Düsseldorf and Pempelfort. Who was the knight known as Sir Rupert von Pempelfort? Where was the vampire of Düsseldorf captured? What does Pempelfort have to do with the political contribution scandal surrounding the Flick Family? Discover the truth behind Pempelfort’s mysterious past as you uncover the hidden gems of the city!

You will find an exciting range of culinary stations on your tour, such as:

  • a French market hall
  • a fine cheese shop
  • a cozy coffee bar
  • a trendy vegan café
  • a Greek specialty shop

For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic etc). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.
