Walking Tour Bremen-Old Town: A walk through "Bremen's Parlor"
Follow in the footsteps of Hanseatic merchants, Heini Holtenbeen, and Fish-Luzie through Bremen’s impressive and historic centre. Bremen is over a thousand years old (the famous Bremen Roland erected in 1404, is the oldest known Roland statue), and has quite a few exciting tales to tell. On this tour you will learn some of these exciting stories about the traditions of yesterday and today, and of Bremen merchants past and inhabitants present.
Located next to the Weser, the Schnoor quarter is the oldest district in Bremen, boasting a history dating back to the 13th century. Let us guide you through the side of Bremen that usually only locals see (and taste). We will guide you onto Böttcherstrasse, Bremen's secret high street, and explain what the Statue of Liberty in New York and the Old Town Hall in Bremen have in common.
During the Altstadt-tour, you’ll learn about the city’s history, architecture and diverse entertainment offerings. You’ll sample a variety of culinary specialties, and be given recommendations to specially-selected restaurants. Join us and get to know Bremen through its food, culture, and people.
You will find an exciting range of culinary stations on your tour, such as:
- A traditional delicatessen specializing in seafood
- Bremen's most famous snack imbiss
- A modern Soup Bistro specializing in organic fare
- A French Boulangerie
- A restaurant typical of Bremen
- A cozy tea room
- A colorful candy factory
For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic, etc.). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.
