Walking Tour Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg: Glaring, hip and much-discussed
On our cultural culinary stroll we will explore the glaring development of Prenzlauer Berg. The neighborhood—which housed the Nazi resistance movement during World War II—later became a hotspot for workers and eventually artists. “Prenzlberg,” as it is affectionately known by the locals, is now one of the wealthiest districts in Berlin.

As Prenzlauer Berg remained quite untroubled by the war’s destruction, you can still find many beautiful old buildings in this district, which were renovated after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today, the relatively wealthy live here, as well as artists, academics, young families and new Berliners. Along with its population, the district´s cuisine also developed further and now offers a dizzying diversity of food. On our tour, we´ll guide you to selected small shops and give you a introductory taste of Prenzlberg.

During this tour you will learn something about Prenzlauer Berg's history and architecture, and discover its special entertainment offerings. You will be able to try various different culinary specialities and uncover Prenzlauer Berg's secrets.

Delicious food samples:

  • a retro pâtisserie & roastery
  • a Mediterranean gourmet food store
  • a sweet and hearty café
  • an Italian snack stand
  • an innovative snack bar
  • a Greek specialty shop
  • a trendy burger spot

For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic etc). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.

One thought: The diversity of food needs to be better balanced, both ethnically and cuisine. A liitle too much
on the sweet dessert side. Cultural content great esp Kaethe Kollwitz"

"Thanks for a great cultural and cullinary experience. The food was great and our guide Beate was very interesting and knowledgeable and I learnt a lot more about the Berlin people that I would on a typical tourist trail.
My sister and German Fiancé had a great time too. Thanks again, I will be recommending to everyone of my friends that come to Berlin.
Thanks again and ich bin satt

"Hello there, I just wanted to tell you how delighted I was to take the Prenzlauer Berg tour on July 28th. Our guide (Eileen? A young woman studying African politics/business) was very knowledgeable and kind. We knew it was a German tour but she made a point of following up with us in English. I love your concept for the food tours, and really appreciated how the restaurant owners came out to greet us. I look forward to doing more tours the next time I am in Germany!
Thanks again, Elly (August 2013)"
