Newsletter 7th Edition

Dear friends,

Welcome to the seventh edition of the eat-the-world Newsletter. Once again, we’ve got lots to tell you about in this issue: we’ve devised a fun Christmas competition and have been looking into ways to bring you great tours in other cities too. We also have another tasty recipe for you to try, of course, perfect for Christmas time.

The Schöneberg-Tour - conclusion

As many of you may already know, since 21 August we’ve been running the Schöneberg-Tour in Berlin. We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ for the huge amount of positive feedback from our customers who have already taken the Schöneberg-Tour and, of course, to those of you who are still planning to come along.

We would also like to thank our new partners, who have enriched our Schöneberg-Tour with their own specialities, from Greek, French and Mediterranean cuisine, to pastries and fresh fruit; all homemade, fresh and, of course, delicious! We’d love to see some familiar faces on the Schöneberg-Tour again, or give those of you who have not yet taken the opportunity the chance to experience Schöneberg’s charm.

Christmas recipe: gingerbread cake with mango yoghurt creme

Here’s a new recipe to get you into the festive spirit this Christmas. This year, why not try gingerbread cake with mango yoghurt creme?

(Ingredients for two people)

For the cake mix:

- 400g nougat
- 8 eggs
- 400g sugar
- 6 tbsp gingerbread spices
- 300g flour
- 4 tsp baking soda

For the creme:

-    4 mangos (just the flesh)
-    2 sachets of lemon flavouring (‘Citro Back’)
-    20 gelatine leaves
-    1500g yoghurt (vanilla or mango flavour)
-    400ml single cream

Firstly, melt the nougat.  Beat the eggs and 120g of sugar together with the gingerbread spices until fluffy. Mix the flour and baking soda and add to the egg and sugar mixture, along with the nougat.  Pour the mixture into a 26cm springform mould and bake for 30-35 minutes at 175°C. When it is ready, remove the cake from the mould, leave to cool and slice into halves.

Blend 40g of sugar with the mango flesh and lemon flavouring (‘Citro Back’). Dissolve three gelatine leaves (here, it’s best to follow the instructions on the packet). Stir a little mango puree in with the gelatine and then add this to the rest of the mango puree.

Stir 40g of sugar into the yoghurt. Dissolve 7 gelatine leaves and stir in a little of the yoghurt.  Stir this into the remainder of the yoghurt. Beat the cream until stiff and fold into the yoghurt.

Using a fork, lightly mix the mango puree into the yoghurt and cream mixture, allowing the mango puree to remain visible.

Place a cake ring around the first cake base and cover with half the creme. Place the second cake base on top and spread the remainder of the creme over the top.

And now, enjoy!
