Walking Tour Wiesbaden-Mitte: Grand Hotels, the Bermuda Triangle, and Cat Holes
Join us on a culinary tour through Wiesbaden's historic district! Together we’ll explore the splendor of the former grand hotels in the oldest spa city in Europe before embarking on a journey to the creative and effervescent Nerostraße, located at the foot of the Bergkirchen quarter, with its young epicurean establishments, unconventional inhabitants, and pre-Wilhelminian buildings.
Learn more about the development of Wiesbaden from a "wellness oasis for Roman legionnaires" and then a world-renowned spa town during the Wilhelminian era, to its use as the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) headquarters following World War II, and eventual rediscovery as a historical gem.
Follow us through Wiesbaden’s old town center with its former artisan-lined lanes which today house a rich gastronomy scene and many unique shops, and enjoy specially selected culinary highlights in Wilhelmstrasse, Wiesbaden’s upscale boulevard which is lovingly and proudly referred to by the locals as “the Rue”!
Tasty samples from the following locales:
- a bakery with refined cakes and cupcakes
- a small culinary slice of Belgium in Wiesbaden
- a gourmet shop
- a traditional chocolatier
- a fine jam and mustard manufacturer
- a traditional, yet innovative, spice shop
- a modern East Asian restaurant
For most, the food samples are enough to constitute a full lunch. Please inform us of any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, diabetic etc). We will try to tailor our tour accordingly.
Please Note: The tour is not suitable for vegans, people with lactose or gluten intolerance, or those with nut allergies.
