Walking Tour Saarbrücken-Nauwieser quarter: From former Chinatown to a hip neighborhood
Join us on our culinary tour through the Nauwieser Quarter and explore the young expansion of the St. John's area, which in recent years has become known as the most iconic neighborhood in Saarbrücken given its rich diversity and alternative atmosphere. Nowadays the area is home to long-term residents, students, and young families with kids.
The quarter is characterized by a lively bar scene and a myriad of owner-operated stores which specialize in the sale of high-quality, regional products. In addition to art galleries and antique stores, the area is rife with artisanal toy stores and designer shops for jewelry, gifts and interior accessories. Regional, sustainable, and organic are obviously the upmost important qualities in the Nauwieser Quarter—you’ll even find an organic barber in this hip and trendy neighborhood!
Stroll the former "Nauwies" trails and experience the adventurous district as a culinary destination for locals and tourists alike. Witness the contrasting, yet peaceful and cooperative, coexistence of the neighborhood’s many personalities, and embark on an epicurean journey of discovery in line with the Saarland motto "Hauptsach’ gudd gess," meaning the most important thing is to eat well!.
